Brennan Manning wrote in a book about an Epsicopal priest named Tom Minifie who had a Down Syndrome daughter. While conversing with another couple who's child had Down, and they were obviously upset by his behavior in church, Tom said, "We have four other children, so we know the blessing that kids can be. Yet the most precious gift we've ever received in our entire lives has been Sylvia. In her unihibited expression of affection, she revealed to us the face of God as no other human being ever has. Did you know that several Native American tribes attribute divinity to Down's children because in their utter simplicity they're a transparent window into the Great Spirit? Treasure this child, for he will lead you into the heart of God."

Great story. And so true. Micah's smile is insanely contagious. And though I know my other children love me, Micah's love comes through every time he looks at me (well, except maybe when he's being disciplined, and YES, he needs to be disciplined at times because he is a little stinker).
Jeff and Debra,
I just heard about your sweet boys today from Rachel. They are so precious...I am praying for ya'll and especially for sweet Silas. What a treasure he already is and will be!! And Stewart, too! I hope to see ya'll soon in person.
Maybe at some point when the chaos settles a bit we can have a playdate. I was due yesterday with baby boy #2. :) If he doesn't arrive in the next 2 days we are scheduled to be induced this Friday.
Thinking of you and love the pictures...
Love,
Mary Elizabeth
